Okay, I get it. I see what the Braves are going after here.
First, they’re clubbing home runs. Three on Sunday against Brett Myers, and two again on Tuesday afternoon against ‘crafty’ (read: old) Jamie Moyer. The Braves are trying to make a point. ‘We’ve got a bit of power,’ they’re saying. ‘Don’t sell short the power.‘
And they’re right, I suppose. With Chipper Jones, Brian McCann, and a hopefully-right-headed Jeff Francoeur in the lineup, Atlanta will bang a few balls out of the park. They’re no Gashouse Gang, but no slouches, either. Point taken. The pop is there.
But more important, in the grand scheme of the Braves’ things this summer, is balance. Balance on the pitching staff, where — let’s face...
