Baseball America rated him as the Atlanta Braves' top prospect in 2008, and Jordan Schafer hit a home run against the Phillies on national TV on opening day in '09. The future was so bright, he had to wear sunglasses at night. As of Tuesday morning, Schaefer probably was assessing his future with the Houston Astros in a much different way after paying his own $2,000 bond, money that released him from a Tampa jail after being arrested on a felony marijuana charge. Taking that news into account, the funny Spicoli-looking expression on Schafer's face in the photo takes on a different meaning entirely. The Ultimate Astros blog at the Houston Chronicle details that police pulled over Schafer's 2008 Land Rover after he pulled up next to an unmarked squad car. The official report says that a "strong odor of marijuana" came from the vehicle, which had some of its windows rolled down.
