From Lance McAlister's Blog comes the greatest news of the year. Patterson to AAA The Reds today optioned to Class AAA Louisville OF Corey Patterson, selected from Louisville the contract of IF Andy Phillips and transferred to the 60-day disabled list SS Alex Gonzalez. Patterson hit .200 in 45g and 29 starts for the Reds. Gonzalez has been on the DL all season with a compression fracture in his left knee. Phillips has spent the season at Louisville (40g, .315, 5hr, 22rbi, 2sb)...for the Bats he appeared in 53g at 1B, 51g at 3B, 7g at 2B and 34g at DH... he will wear uniform number 46. Andy Phillips sucks but he doesn't suck as much as Patterson. Is this what its like to have a real GM? Walt Jocketty might be new to this team but he's done more to help it at the major league level in couple months than Wayne Krivsky did in 2 plus years. All of a sudden this team has a bench that isn't redundant, a line up mostly full of guys who can keep their OPS over .600, and prospects who are still developing. 81 wins here we come!
