MLB.com reports that San Diego Padres ace Jake Peavy exercised his no-trade clause and nixed a potential 4-for-1 trade today that would have sent the All-Star right-hander to the Chicago White Sox. Chicago's two top pitching prospects, Aaron Poreda and Clayton Richard, were reportedly to have been included in the deal. "Right now, this is the best place for me and my family," Peavy said. Peavy is in his eighth Major League season, all with the Padres. The 6-1, 195 lbs 28 year-old has a career record of 89-67 with a 3.21 ERA and 1325 strikeouts in 1322.1 innings. He signed a deal in December of 2007 that pays him $11 million this season, $15 million in 2010, $16 million in 2011 and $17 million in 2012. The Padres hold a team option for $22 million with a $4 million buyout.
