Pedro Close to Signing with Cubs or Rays?

Just after the Cubs lost to the White Sox on Wednesday afternoon, the Associated Press released a report that stated Pedro Martinez "could be back on a major league mound soon. The right-hander said on Wednesday that he has had talks with the Chicago Cubs and Tampa Bay Rays and hopes to sign a contract in the near future." Martinez told the Associated Press, "There's a good chance I'll be signing soon, but there still isn't anything firm." The Cubs and Rays have shown the most interest in the free-agent pitcher according to Martinez.
