Perfection: Mark Buehrle Sending Everyone Home Early

Mark Buerhle has just thrown the first perfect game in five years against the Tampa Bay Rays.  Dewayne Wise, who was put in the game as a defensive replacement in the ninth inning, saved the perfect game, no-hitter, and the shutout by leaping the center field wall and bringing back a home run hit by Gabe Kapler.  Michael Ramirez then struck out, and with the crowd on its feet chanting his name, Buehrle got Jason Bartlett to ground out to short stop.  It took 116 pitches and just two hours and 19 minutes for Buehrle to throw the 19th perfect game in MLB history.  Besides the Wise play, the only threat to the perfection was a 3-0 count to Bartlett earlier in the game, in which Buehrle worked the count to 3-2 and got Bartlett to ground out. The other threat was a line drive off the bat of Pat Burrell that was just foul, spinning third base umpire Laz Diaz in the process.  Buehrle had three balls in only three counts, but he was able to work ...
