I guess the rivalry between the Phillies and Mets is not enough for Jimmy Rollins. In the June edition of Playboy, Rollins predicts that the Phillies will face the Yankees in the World Series. How fun would it be to have the rivalry switch to the other side of New York come October? Rollins would truly be public enemy number one in New York if this were to happen. One question though. Would Mets fans pull for the Phillies or Yankees. Hard to say which team they hate the most!
In addition to the interview, Rollins is pictured in a fashion shoot with his fiance Johari Smith. The issue will be available on Friday.
In other New York rivalry news, it is always interesting how New York claims itself as the hub for baseball. Obviously the Dodgers and Giants organizations didn't agree and now the fans don't seem to agree either. The Yankees have gone and built this beautiful new stadium while the Mets put a new but flawed ballpark in Flushing (they can't seem to do anything right). Can you imagine what their attendance will be like? It will blow the rest of the league out of the water!
Oh wait, coming into last night's game the Philadelphia Phillies led the way with most fans in attendance in MLB (726,402) and the largest average attendance of any team (42,730). I guess the rotten apple is learning more and more what it feels like to play second fiddle!
