The Philadelphia Phillies have been linked to a new name, switch-hitting outfielder Melky Cabrera, the 26-year old outfielder for the Kansas City Royals. Cabrera is having a strong season in his first year with the Royals, as he has posted a .293/.331/.450 statline with 11 home runs, 52 RBIs, and 14 stolen bases in just 16 attempts. He’s posting the best adjusted OPS of his seven-year career, and he’s in a one-year deal, so the Phillies could probably get Cabrera for a reasonable deal. Cabrera can play all three outfield positions, so it depends on whether the Phillies choose to start him or platoon him, but he will be a valuable addition in the fact that he can fill in for the oft-injured Shane Victorino or play either corner outfield position for the streaky left-handed hitters, Raul Ibanez and Domonic Brown.
