Philly Buster:
Carlos Ruiz is not recovering from his back injury as quickly as the team hoped, announced general manager Ruben Amaro, Jr.
Ruiz has not played the last six games after straining his back. Brian Schneider has been filling in for Ruiz and Dane Sardinha was recently brought up from Triple-A to be the team’s backup.
If the Phillies would put Ruiz on the DL, it would clear up a roster space. The team would be able to backtrack his DL stint to April 27.
Ruiz is hitting .226 this year. Schneider was as low as .077 but has elevated his average to .184.
