The Philadelphia Phillies have announced their players of the month in the minor leagues for the month of April. Joe Savery, a first baseman in the high-A level for the Clearwater Threshers, won Offensive Player of the Month for April. Savery, a former first-round draft pick of the Phillies as a pitcher, batted .778 in his first five games (14-for-18), .621 in his first week, and .450 overall. He collected 36 hits in just 21 games, hitting nine for extra bases. Thirteen times he collected multiple hits in the same game. J.C. Ramirez was named Pitcher of the Month. Ramirez is a right-handed starter for the Phillies’ Double-A affiliate, the Reading Phillies. Ramirez won all four of his decisions, posted a miniscule 1.03 ERA, and held opponents to a .187 opponents batting average for the month.
