Despite the minor detail that he will be 49 years old, Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Jamie Moyer is planning on returning to the major leagues in 2012 for what would be his 25th season. Moyer suffered a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his elbow last July. He missed the final two months of the regular season, as well as the postseason. Moyer’s contract expired and he was released from the Phillies 40-man roster after the 2010 season. He went to the Dominican Winter Leagues in 2010, where he injured his elbow again. He had surgery in December of 2010 to repair the ligament injury, ending any chance of his pitching in 2011. “For me, this is all I know,” Moyer said last week. “It’s the first time in 40 years I haven’t been playing baseball at this time of year.
