Philadelphia Phillies Place Relief Pitcher J.C. Romero on Disabled List; Recall Mike Zagurski

As expected, the Phillies have placed relief pitcher J.C. Romero on the disabled list following last night’s injury. Romero is said to have strained his right calf. Romero had a 3.86 ERA so far in seven games this season. The Phillies recalled pitcher Mike Zagurski from Triple-A. Zagurski has spent the last four seasons on either the Phillies’ major-league or Triple-A roster. Zagurski has struggled mightily in 33 career appearances for the Phillies, posting a 6.99 ERA with a walk rate of 5.1 batters per nine innings. Zagurski and Antonio Bastardo are now the two left-handed options for the Phillies out of the bullpen.
