Philly Buster:
Ross Gload has been playing through a hip tear, the team announced. He should be having season-ending surgery on the injury but he has reported that he will play through the pain.
Gload, 35, said the hip began bothering him back in mid-April, but he can minimize the pain by playing carefully. Gload is hitting .297 this year as a left-handed bat off the bench and a first baseman/corner outfielder.
Gload is currently in the final year of a two-year, $6 million deal with the Phillies that he signed prior to the ’10 season.
