Philly Buster:
It’s been an interesting week for John Mayberry, Jr. He was chosen as the one to go to the DL when Shane Victorino returned from the disabled list.
However, Ross Gload – who many thought might be the odd man out when Victorino returned – took three days off for paternity leave, so Mayberry was recalled.
Now that Gload is back with the team, Mayberry was sent back down to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
Mayberry hit .345 for the Phillies in April, but began to play much more regularly in May and hit only .194. Gload is hitting .275, although he cannot play the field or even run the bases due to a hip injury.
