Of the three Philadelphia Phillies players nominated for the 2011 Rawlings Gold Glove, third baseman Placido Polanco was the only one to win it, his third such time winning the award.
Polanco fielded a league-high .977 at third base this year, his eighth time leading either league in fielding percentage. Polanco also led the NL in range factor per nine innings (2.90) and assists (259).
Polanco had previously won the award in 2007 and 2009, both times as a second baseman for the AL’s Detroit Tigers.
Catcher Carlos Ruiz and Shane Victorino were also nominated. Victorino is a three-time winner who lost out to Matt Kemp of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
