With the promotion of Freddy Galvis from Double-A to Triple-A, the Philadelphia Phillies traded veteran shortstop Brian Bocock to the Pittsburgh Pirates, where Bocock will stay at the Triple-A level.
Bocock is a .134 career hitter in the major leagues. At the Triple-A level this year, he was batting just .224 with a .298 slugging percentage and just two steals in six attempts. His defense had also slipped off. Why the Pirates took Bocock is beyond me.
