Carlos Ruiz has missed eight consecutive games for the Philadelphia Phillies because of back soreness, but the team said that he will not go on the disabled list.
Brian Schneider and Dane Sardinha have been filling in for Ruiz in his absence. Ruiz will try to catch a bullpen session on Sunday.
Ruiz could have been placed on the DL and had it retroactivated back to April 28, but the team chose not to do so. Ruiz thinks he will be ready to play again very soon.
