The Phillies claimed left-handed pitcher Mauricio Robles from the Seattle Mariners today. Robles, 23, has a career 4.15 ERA in seven seasons, which includes stops in Triple-A Tacoma in each of the last three years. Robles has struggled in 15 games at Triple-A, 6.71 ERA, but strikes out batters at a 9.4 K/9 IP over his career. Robles was placed on waivers by the Mariners last week and now occupies the 37th spot on the Phillies 40 man roster, not including the suspended Carlos Ruiz.

Analysis: Some folks may remember Robles as the key piece in the deal that landed the Detroit Tigers Jarrod Washburn. It is worth noting that Robles spent the majority of his career as a starter before having much success as a reliever in Double-A last season. Robles struggled with injuries in 2011, including Spring Training surgery to remove loose bodies in his elbow, but was healthy for most of 2012. Robles struggled with command but maintained his velocity.

Ben Revere came to Philadelphia today to meet the Phillies for the first time and got a few experiences around the City of Brotherly Love and on the high seas to show for it. Listening to Revere on 97.5 the Fanatic with Mike Missanelli and watching him on Comcast Sportsnet,...
Are there positives to signing Bay?
Despite a flurry of rumors, the Seattle Mariners had a quiet close to the winter meetings. The one big deal seemed to be the signing of Jason Bay to a 1 year deal.
After a disappointing three seasons with the New York Mets, what should the M’s be expecting from Bay heading into 2013?
Possible power potential

The Philadelphia Phillies are seeking a low-risk,
high-reward pitcher to fill out the back-end of their starting rotation,
reports Matt Gelb of the Philadelphia Inquirer.
"We'll probably look to add a low-risk, high-reward
type of guy, or somebody's who's come back from an injury, or someone like that
who can battle for that fifth spot," general...
I love the Phillies because it is common conversation in my family growing up. One more thing to build a stronger family around. They also provided me with a topic for soda tab chain mail that I made. Which can be seen if you goggle “3000 soda tab Phillies jersey“.

While Philadelphia Phillies fans may have been waiting with bated breath for Josh Hamilton or B.J. Upton, the center fielder for the 2013 season will instead be a guy few of them heard of before this month. Even so, it didn't take them long to like Ben Revere, and vice versa. On the final day of the winter meetings, the Phils made a trade with the Minnesota Twins that netted...
The Phillies have signed reliever Mike Adams to a two-year, $12 million contract, with a third-year vesting option at preusmably the same annual rate.
Adams underwent surgery for Thoracic Outlet Syndrome in October — a literal rib-removal procedure — but expects to be ready for opening day. He has had his fair share of health issues over the years but is still very much worth...
Throughout the off-season, I have checked in with various players from around the Phillies organization to gauge their thoughts on fall/winter leagues they’ve played in and what their outlooks are going forward. Recently, I spoke with outfielder/first baseman Darin Ruf, who mashed 38 home runs and drove in 104 runs for Double-A Reading before making his major league debut with...
I caught the upper level Mariners affiliates (Jackson & Tacoma) on a swing through the southeast late in the minor league season and there are a handful of prospects from those teams I haven’t written up yet. Both of these teams were deep with big leaguers and have some interesting prospects beyond the obvious elite guys.

Ichiro Likely Headed to Yankees, Phillies Offer Pushed Yanks to Two Years
Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal tweeted that Ichiro Suzuki will sign with the Yankees yesterday evening. David Waldstein of the New York Times tweeted yesterday that the Phillies were “making (a) big push” for Ichiro and their offer has pushed the Yankees to offer Ichiro a second year. No agreement has been...
According to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, the Phillies have ramped up their attempts to sign free agent outfielder Cody Ross. This, after inking Mike Adams and John Lannan to free agent deals early on Saturday.
I’ve been a supporter of the Phillies signing Ross since at least June (on Phillies Nation TV) because he’s relatively cheap (we think) and it likely won’t take a contract...
