Phillies-roy-halladay
By Anthony Caruso III The Capital Sports Report Owner/Managing Editor/Sr. Writer The Philadelphia Phillies have talked about signing ace pitcher Roy Halladay to a contract extension.Roy Halladay But the talks reportedly broke down after Halladay started to have shoulder problems. Halladay could be a free agent after the 2013 season. He is due to make $20 million next season, with a 2014 option for an additional $20 million. His option will be guaranteed if he reaches 225 innings in 2013 or a total of 415 innings combined from the 2012 and 2013 seasons. He also must not be on the disabled list at the end of the 2013 season. Halladay wants an extension in the neighborhood of $24 million per season. That is what fellow ace pitcher Cliff Lee is being paid. “I guess it’s still possible,” said Phillies GM Ruben Amaro Jr. “But a lot has to do with how he feels and how he performs. So that’s a decision and a conversation that would probably have to go into the spring, and maybe into the season.” © 2007-2012 The Capital Sports Report. All rights reserved.
