MLB Injury News:
Philadelphia Phillies' pitcher Kyle Kendrick was hit in the back of the head with a pitch in sixth inning of the Phillies' 6-1 loss against the Dodgers on Sunday afternoon.
As reported by Jim Salisbury of csnphilly.com,
"Kendrick stayed in the game and pitched the bottom of the sixth inning,
but left with a headache after that. He was checked by a doctor and will
be re-evaluated Monday in Pittsburgh."
"Kendrick’s turn in the
rotation comes up again Saturday at home. It is unclear whether he will
make that start. There is a seven-day disabled list for players with
Kendrick has been one of the Phillies most reliable pitchers this season. He is 7-5 with a 3.59 earned run average in 112 2/3 innings pitched. For his career, he is 61-46 with a 4.20 earned run average in 180 career games.
If Kendrick misses his next start, it appears that either Tyler Cloyd or Ethan Martin will be called up from Triple A to make the start.

Carlos Tocci, photo- Jay Floyd
One of the most raved about prospects in the Phillies system is 17-year-old Carlos Tocci. Praised for his superior defense and excellent quickness along with an ability to hit to all fields, the Venezuelan born outfielder opened the season as the youngest player in Lakewood BlueClaws history in the Class A South Atlantic League.
Tocci was signed by...
Despite their disappointing start to the season, the Los
Angeles Dodgers are reportedly interested in upgrading their team this summer. In
an effort to do so, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports that the Dodgers could target
Philadelphia Phillies second baseman Chase Utley.
It’s not known at this point if the Dodgers have contacted
the Phillies regarding Utley. It’s...
From all throughout the Phillies’ developmental ranks, here’s our weekly rundown of top performers and those players that have struggled recently.
Triple A Lehigh Valley IronPigs-
Outfielder Darin Ruf has picked up the production with his batting average of late, but has displayed minimal power during that stretch. The 26-year-old righty hitting slugger is batting...
The Phillies players with the largest-dollar contracts in Phillies history have not been their top-dollar selves this season. And now they are being asked to sit. First baseman Ryan Howard sat out the Phillies' Friday and Saturday contests in Los Angeles. Cole Hamels will be next: the left-hander will be...
July. That time of the year when the weather starts to really heat up, as well as the trade rumors and player movement. It's a chance for a hot free-agent-to-be athlete to basically audition for contending teams for a chance to use your talents for something other than for a losing effort. Question is, are the Phillies one of those 'losing effort' teams?
From Matt Gelb’s piece in the Inquirer today comes some uncharacteristically earnest quotes from Ruben Amaro Jr. and an unusually candid series of quotations from the GM.
Here are some of the highlights from the piece:
“Amaro does not need to trade anyone. He said there is no mandate from ownership to shed payroll, even as the team has experienced an average decrease of 5,871...

Daulton is reportedly in good spirits after the seven hour surgery. Dutch was awake for the entirety of the procedure and will require three to four weeks of recovery. Daulton is expected...
The Phillies saw Puig up close (AP)
This weekend was mostly unfortunate for the Phillies outside of their 16-run barrage on Friday night, which happened to be the only time this season the team has eclipsed 10 runs in game.
-Yaisel Puig certainly looks like the real deal. And it’s a damn shame he ripped on the Phils all weekend, although we’re seeing history in the...
Domonic Brown, Ben Revere, Cliff Lee, Cole Hamels, Jon Pettibone. If you're on this list, you're sticking around, at least if I were the GM. If you're named Galvis, Hernandez, Ruf, or Asche, prepare to be here a month from now. Everybody else, buckle up. The Philadelphia Phillies are 9.5...
Jimmy Rollins watches the season fly away A walk off win always hurts. Last night, the Phillies were on the losing end of one of those against the Dodgers, putting them down 2-1 in the four game series. Trying to leave SoCal with a series split, Kyle Kendrick took the...
Darren Daulton's surgeon says the former Philadelphia Phillies All-Star catcher has successfully had two brain tumors removed.
Dr. Kevin Judy says the 51-year-old Daulton is recovering at Thomas Jefferson Hospital following a seven-hour operation Monday and is expected to be released later this week. Judy says Daulton is doing fine physically and doctors will be monitoring his...
The Red Sox could eventually kick the tires on Michael Young. They just haven’t done so yet.
The New York Post reported that the Red Sox would be interested in trading for Young if the Phillies made him available, adding that a source reportedly said, “They want him badly.” But according to WEEI.com, the Red Sox have not engaged in “a single conversation” with the Phillies...
The Phils were hoping for a series split with the Dodgers today at Chavez Ravine. This week has proved frustrating for Philadelphia, with all three losses being very winnable. A combination of blown leads and runners left on base led to a loss last night and on Friday in Los Angeles. Today Kyle Kendrick got [...]
With a day off yesterday after getting it handed to them by the Dodgers, the Phillies will take on the Pittsburgh Pirates in a three-game matchup before heading back home. 9 1/2 games out in the NL East, the Phillies will send out Jonathan Pettibone (3-3, 4.17 ERA) to take...
Miscues cost the Dodgers in the ninth inning and gave the Phillies a chance. At the very least, it erased a potential loss for Cliff Lee, who was two outs away from having one mistake ruin an otherwise solid outing. The Phillies tied the game in dramatic fashion with the...
