In a move that the Philadelphia Phillies will regret, the team released right handed pitcher Chad Durbin and recalled Joe Savery from Triple-A. The 35 year old Durbin struggled mightily early this season after signing a $1.1 million contract with a team option for 2014. In 16 games and 16 innings he gave up 25 hits, 4 homeruns, and 17 runs(16 earned) for a 9.00 ERA. While on the surface his release seems to make sense, this will prove to be a mistake for the Phillies for two reasons. First, they have no one else. Last year he recorded a 9.00 ERA in March and April and finished the season with a 3.10 mark. He had an 8.38 ERA in the same period in 2011. Durbin has too much experience to just release
