The Philadelphia Phillies have placed relief pitcher Mike Adams on the 15-day disabled list. Relief pitcher J.C. Ramirez was recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley and infielder Michael Martinez was designated for reassignment.
As reported by Mike Wisniewski at CSNPhilly.com,
"This will be the second stint on the DL this season for Adams, who was
previously out of action from May 11-26 with a right back strain. This
time it's bicep tendonitis that will keep the 34-year-old out of action
until at least July 5."
Adams was signed in the off season to be the setup man for closer Jonathan Papelbon. Although Adams has a career 2.39 earned run average in 386 games, he has struggled this season due to injuries. He last pitched on Wednesday night when he threw a scoreless inning against the Washington Nationals. In 28 games this season, Adams is 1-4 with a 3.96 earned run average.
