The Philadelphia Phillies fresh off of losing Ben Revere to a fractured ankle, are looking for center fielders to replace him, according to Todd Zolecki of MLB.com. Revere said today recovery could take 6-8 weeks, but he should learn more tomorrow. In the meantime, Phillies are looking for a CF. — Todd Zolecki (@ToddZolecki) July 14, 2013 He didn't give any names that the Phillies could target, but one obvious target is White Sox outfielder Alex Rios, who has been in trade rumors since last month. He is hitting .273 with 11 home runs, 40 RBI's and 19 stolen bases. While Rios may not be the kind of spark plug Revere was, he still is a very good outfielder who will give the Phillies instant production, which Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro will like. Another option for the Phillies could be Andre Ethier. He has had to play center field this year due to injuries in the Dodgers outfield, so he at least has some center field experience. While the Dodgers will likely not be sellers, they go four deep in their outfield with Matt Kemp, Carl Crawford, Yasiel Puig and Ethier. While they are unlikely to be sellers, Ethier is still being mentioned in trade rumors. Ethier is hitting .271 with five home runs and 28 RBI's. Those numbers don't really live up to his six-year, $95.95 million contract, but he still would be an upgrade for the Phillies in their hunt for a center field replacement. In a potential Ethier deal, the Dodgers are all but certain to eat some of his contract, so the Phillies won't be stuck with his entire contract. A less well known name that the Phillies could target is Mariners center fielder Franklin Gutierrez. He has not been able to stay healthy in the previous three years, including this year, but if he stays healthy, he could provide a spark at the top of the Phillies lineup. He doesn't hit for much power, but he can knock in RBI's and steal a base if needed to. The most stolen bases he has had in his career is 25, but he had that back in 2010. On the year, Gutierrez is hitting .267 with five home runs and 11 RBI's and one stolen base, but he has only played in 18 games this season. While the Phillies will be going after center fielders now since Revere is hurt, the Phillies should stay patient and think this through. Making a quick decision that you rush is not the best answer. They need to think this through very carefully to see who the best fit is for their organization. While an answer may not be imminent, the Phillies will likely acquire a center fielder to replace Revere. Follow @mlbinjurynews Looking for fantasy baseball advice?
