Final: Phillies 8, Nationals 0.

WP: Cliff Lee (2-6, 3.73 ERA)

LP: Stephen Strasburg (11-5, 3.12 ERA)

With a change of scenery for Hunter Pence and Shane Victorino at the trade deadline, the Phillies looked to the future tonight. Jimmy Rollins and Kevin Frandsen started the pace quickly at the plate each by hitting homers.

Rollins hit his first inside-the-park home run since 2007, the fourth of his career. Cliff Lee dazzled in Washington tonight and recorded his second win of the season. Domonic Brown picked up his first hit of 2012 when he pinch hit for Lee in the top of the 8th.

The Phillies finally showed some life for a team that has seemed to be dead for the past couple of months. Though the playoffs a mathematically out of the picture, the Phils’ still have two months to see what their 2013 team will look like.

The Phillies play again tomorrow in Washington. Game time is 7:05 PM. Phils’ face off against Edwin Jackson with Vance Worley taking the hill.
