On Mother's Day, the Phillies were able to defeat the San Diego Padres, 3-2.  With the win on Sunday, the Phillies were able to take the weekend series.

Phillies vs Padres 5/13 QUICK HITS:

  • Cole Hamels went seven strong innings, registering the win.  Cole had 5 strikeouts, 3 walks, and one earned run.
  • Jimmy Rollins hit his first lead-off home run of the year.  J-Roll's homer was his 38th career lead-off home run.
  • Brian Schneider went 2 for 2 yesterday at the plate, knocking an RBI in the second inning.
  • Juan Pierre came up big on Sunday, as he lined a double to right field to give the Phillies their third, and eventually winning run.
  • Jonathan Papelbon recorded his 10 save, which is good for second in the National League in saves.
  • Phillies begin a two game set against the Houston Astros on Monday. Joe Blanton will take the mound vs Houston's Lucas Harrell.
