Found April 21, 2009 on Michigan Sports Center:
Jim Abbott had his No. 31 jersey retired by the Michigan baseball program this past Saturday before the Wolverines took on the Spartans. The game didn't turn out all that well, as Michigan lost 3-1, but the ceremony was great. Abbott was an amazing player and is an even better person. His speech was heartfelt and I'm sure left tears in the eyes of some in the crowd.

Here are some pictures from the jersey retirement ceremony:

Abbott actually signed autographs for a few innings after he went to his seats, again showing what a great guy he is. Many of the autographs were signed on maize No. 31 t-shirts with "Abbott" on the back of them. They were given away as part of the festivities, and it was cool to see so many of them in the crowd.
