The Pittsburgh Pirates doctors have diagnosed pitcher Charlie Morton with “some shoulder tightness in the back” according to Pirates manager Clint Hurdle.
Charlie Morton has “some shoulder tightness in his back” according to Pirates manager Clint Hurdle.
Morton left his Friday start for Indianapolis in the third inning and returned to Pittsburgh on Saturday to be examined by the team’s medical staff.
“Nothing more significant or serious than that so we’re going to slow him down, have him play some flat-ground catch and hopefully later in the week throw a bullpen session,” Hurdle said. “Following that we hope to resume his rehab pitching.”
The Pirates travel to play the Mets at Citi Field later this week and Hurdle said Morton would accompany the team and likely throw his bullpen session in New York.
