Chad Billingsley pitched the fifth inning, giving up one run. Orlando Hudson singled in the eighth. AMERICAN LEAGUE 4, NATIONAL LEAGUE 3 If an NL West team reaches the World Series, it will have been a division-wide effort that denied them home-field advantage. NL West pitchers surrendered all four of the AL's runs: Starter Tim Lincecum gave up two (one unearned); Chad Billingsley gave up one, and losing pitcher Heath Bell gave up the winning run. Well, no worries. Even though the All-Star deciding concept may be outdated, the NL is .500 in World Series championships since the rule was instituted in 2003. The Dodgers have gotten this far; home-field advantage in the World Series would have been nice, but not crucial. Stupid AL. Billingsley: AP photo; Hudson photo by Jamie Squire/Getty Images
