Wow, what a return by the big righty, Jeff Niemann, in what will be a memorable game.
Sure, Niemann was strong in his first start since coming off the disabled list. Niemann, for reasons not entirely known, really hasn’t been the same pitcher since he went on the disabled list last season.
Tonight, Niemann looked like the old Jeff Niemann: dominant. Great pitching duel with Chris Narveson until the Rays broke the game open in the seventh.
The Rays got solid play from the leather from Dirtbag and of course, the Magic of Kotch, and a decent play by Niemann himself. But this game will be remembered for a seemingly flippant appearance by the Legend of Sam Fuld.
Dude takes a few warmup pitches just long enough for Milwaukee to commit to a batter and then Merlot Joe yanks him for César Ramos. Shades of Whitey Herzog there! Could you imagine Merlot Joe managing in the National League without a DH? Wow.
In retrospect, Fuld should have stayed in the game the way Ramos pitched. Dude let...
