Found April 17, 2012 on Mets Fever:
The Mets and Braves will lock up this evening in game 2 of 3 from Turner Field in Atlanta, GA. The Mets have now beaten the Braves 4 straight times in 2012 and are off to the 4th best start in franchise history at 7-3. Ike Davis and Jason Bay provided the big blows in last nights win. Davis connected for a tie-breaking 3-run HR in the 6th, while Jason Bay added a solo shot in the 9th to pad the lead. Bay also made a spectacular defensive play to rob Jack Wilson of what would have been a go ahead HR.On the mound for the Braves this evening will be RHP Randall Delgado (1-0, 3.60). In his first start of the year the rookie right-hander gave up two runs in five innings and struck out a career-high six during Wednesday's 6-3 road win over Houston. The highly touted Delgado has a career record of 1-1, with a 2.83 ERA over 7 GS. He has never made an appearance against New York.On the mound for the Mets this evening will be left-hander Johan Santana (0-1, 0.90). Santana has be...

After missing Sundays game with a jammed right ring finger, Jason Bay is back in the lineup tonight batting fifth. Ike Homers, But Phillies Avoid The Sweep With 8-2 Win Over Mets

Ike Davis got the Mets off to a quick start with this two run shot in the first inning off Cole Hamels to put the Mets up 2-0 over the Phillies this afternoon at CBP. But that would be all the scoring in the game for the Mets as they fell to Phillies 8-2 Mike Pelfrey started and tossed six innings while working himself in and out of trouble. Luckily, he allowed just one run after...

If You’d Told Me The Mets Would Start Off 2012 Going 7-3…

The Mets are off to one of the hottest starts in their 50-year existence and I, for one, am reveling in it. Summer has come early, both metaphorically and meteorologically. An 80-plus degree April 16th — coupled with Metsian success on the field — is conjuring up images of those lazy, hazy, crazy days. It could be called “early-pennant-race” weather. The Wall Street Journal...

Maybe the Mets won’t be so terrible?

Lucas Duda, David Wright and Ike Davis will (hopefully) provide the power for the Mets lineup in 2012 In an offseason to forget, the New York Mets slashed payroll, begged people to come to Citi Field, lost Gary Carter to cancer, lost their best player to a division rival in free agency and settled a massive lawsuit.  Other than that, the Mets 2012 offseason was pretty boring. So...

From Left Field: Getting On Base Is One Thing, Driving Them In Is Another

For those who have read Moneyball, we know now that on-base percentage is the name of the game. In the early going this season, the Mets have done a great job of getting guys on base. The team is tied for third place in the NL with a .335 on-base percentage with the Washington Nationals. However, driving in those runs has been a more difficult task. Just in Wednesday’s game against...
