Found April 28, 2012 on Mets Fever:
Coming off of a loss in which the Mets lost by more than a touchdown, the club will look to bounce back behind a strong performance from Dillon Gee and the return of Ike Davis to the lineup.
The last time Ike Davis played in Colorado would wind up being the last time he played in 2011. After a collision with David Wright, Ike Davis rolled his ankle and experienced complications that weren't healed until after the season concluded. Fully healthy now, he'll look to rebound from the tough start he has had on the year in one of the friendliest hitters environments in the major leagues.
Davis will be looking to support Dillon Gee (1-2, 5.21 ERA), who will be making his debut at Coors Field tonight. Gee has had an inconsistent season thus far but showed encouraging signs during his second outing against the Atlanta Braves when he was able to shut the Braves down over 7 innings, allowing only 1 run. Gee's last start against the San Francisco Giants was marred by 2 home runs over 6 2/3 innings, allowing 7 runs in total.
Opposing Gee is the the 28-year old Guillermo Moscoso, who will be making his first start of the year. Moscosco was acquired by the Colorado Rockies in the trade that sent Seth Smith to the Oakland Athletics over the offseason. Moscoso performed well for the A's in 21 starts in 2 relief appearances, boasting a 3.38 ERA, but has a low strikeout rate (5.2/9).

Ike Davis showing signs of life

In the top of the eleventh inning with the go-ahead run 90 feet away, New York Mets first baseman Ike Davis dropped an opposite field RBI single in front of the left fielder giving NY a 6-5 lead they would not relinquish.  Of his 13 hits on the season, the single to left was just his second the opposite way.  After which, SNY broadcaster Kieth Hernandez said the following: When...

Ike Davis Ready to Make an Impact

The first month of the season is almost in the books, and any Met fan will tell you that, aside from yesterday’s game-winner from Ike Davis, we haven’t gotten much from this team’s projected clean-up hitter when the season started. With Ike, the attention started going negative when he was diagnosed with symptoms that were similar to those affected by Valley Fever, a condition...

Does Ike Davis Need to Turn It Around This Road Trip to Avoid a Demotion?

.132/.192/.265/ That is the batting line for Mets first baseman Ike Davis going into tonight’s game. It was Davis, along with Lucas Duda, Daniel Murphy and Ruben Tejada, the Mets were relying on to emerge as part of the young positional core that will be on the field for years to come. Out of that foursome, Davis had the best resume as he finished 7th in voting for Rookie...

Slumping Ike Davis will sit tonight against Rockies lefthander Drew Pomeranz, and in his stead newly recalled 3b/1B Zach Lutz gets the start. Kirk Nieuwenhuis returns home to Colorado and looks to continue his solid play in front on family and friends.   Chris Schwinden gets his first start of the year in

Recap: Gee Strong, Duda Homers, Mets Win 7-5

Gee, coming off an awful start, came to play tonight, hurling seven frames allowing four runs (3 earned) on seven hits while punching out seven, picking up his second win of the year. Moscoso however didn’t enjoy the...

Game Preview: Mets @ Rockies

The Mets will try to put last night’s ugly game behind them today as they take on the Rockies in game two. The positive from last night would be Hairston, who hit for the cycle, the first from the Mets since 2006 when Jose Reyes did the same feet. Besides that, last night was a wash of bad defense and bad pitching (and bad pitching for both teams). The Mets will call on Dillon...

Post Game: Mets 7-Rockies 5

After a horrific 18-9 loss last night, the Mets came back with a 7-5 victory over the Rockies this evening to take game 2 of the 3 game weekend series.  Dillon Gee pitched very well, going 7 innings with 7 strikeouts, allowing 7 hits and 3 earned runs.  His ERA for the season 4.85. Murphy and Wright each had 3 hits, but Thole’s 10 game hit streak came to an end today going 0...

Mets need Dillon Gee more than ever after Mike Pelfrey injury

After yesterday’s win over the Marlins, it was announced that Mike Pelfrey was likely to undergo elbow surgery and miss the remainder of the season. This is really bad news for the Mets, a statement I’d never thought I would say. The Pelfrey we saw in three starts this year was doing everything he needed to do to “cross the Rubicon,” as broadcaster Keith Hernandez would...

Coors Field: Don’t Get Too Homer Happy

With the Mets set to start a weekend set against the Rockies in Colorado, it’s only natural for us to think about power and home runs that seem to fly out of that place with the thin air. You can bet that the Mets are thinking about it as well. Speaking of betting, sports betting websites can be found at this link. With the rut that Ike Davis is in, this is a bad idea for him....

Gee shuts down Rockies, helps Mets win 7-5

DENVER -- After using five relievers for five innings Friday night in an excruciating loss, the Mets sent Dillon Gee to the mound Saturday. They were hoping he could restore order against the Rockies at Coors Field and complete a specific task. "We needed some innings, there was no question," Mets manager Terrry Collins said. "Dillon was going to have throw 100 pitches...

How ‘Bout Them Cowboys… Err Mets…

After tonight’s series win against the Rockies, the Mets filed out of the clubhouse one by one dressed in western garb as they head down to Houston, Texas for the start of a three game showdown with the Astros. Coming off of their sweep of the Miami Marlins, the New York Mets will look to steamroll into the mile high city continuing their winning ways. The Mets last visit to Colorado represented a turning point in many ways. David Wright started the 11th with a single off Matt Belisle (1-2) and Lucas Duda followed with a single.
