Well the big news circulating today is that Binghamton, the defending champions, will not attend Media Day tomorrow in Hartford. I got a good laugh out of it, especially with the news on Mark McGwire being named St. Louis Cardinals hitting coach. While the two have no connection, the entire thing reminds me of McGwire's testimony to Congress. Who could forget...
All jokes aside, I think this is a smart move. You know the media would have a field day with un-related basketball issues. I would want to learn about the current team make-up, especially learn more about the six walk-on players. However, you know 75% of the questions would be about other issues. I can guess that the media is going to try to get a juicy quote from one of the other coaches. However, they have also done a good job to stay out of it.
Speaking of juicy quotes, Will Brown has given the old folks homes in Burlington a chance to lick their chops. He has opened his own twitter page. However, Brown knows the ropes and won't cross the line. That and most Vermont fans probably don't know what the internet is. (I kid Vermont, I kid).
Last big news prior to Media Day is that Pat Chambers has landed another recruit. He has signed NY product Malik Thomas. Congrats Pat, we know you can recruit outside of Philly. All kidding aside, a solid pick-up for Chambers. I have said it over and over that he is putting together something special in Boston...at least on paper.
