Game Notes
  • The Mets are currently 8-2 in the month of May, after finishing April 9-12.
  • The Mets are 11-7 at Citi Field. Only the Dodgers (14), Red Sox (13), and Cardinals (12) have more wins at home. Unfortunately, the Mets travel to two of those locations in their upcoming road trip.
  • Johan Santana is the 14th pitcher since 1914 (the first year they began tracking earned runs officially in both leagues) to begin the season with an ERA below 0.80 after seven starts. I really don't think some fans realize what kind of phenomenon they are witnessing here. It's truly Amazin.
The Mets need a big win to regain some confidence after last night's awful showing from everybody not named Johan Santana. This team is really good, but it seems they are only good when they realize they are good. As soon as they begin to doubt their abilities or lose sight of the "team first" mantra, they go downhill. With a win tonight, all is forgotten about yesterday and the Mets will remain in first place for yet another day.

With a loss, well, let's just not go there. For some odd reason, I have a really good feeling about tonight. I think Pelfrey will have his best outing of 2009 to date, and the offense will be sufficient to give the Amazin's a win. Of course, I'm being very optimistic here after a very disappointing Monday night.

By the way, anybody who knows anything about their beloved New York Mets, please stop by Mike Kent's Met Wiki. It is full of fun and interesting Mets information, and it can also be edited by anyone!

Enjoy the game, and as always, Let's Go Mets!
