A 24-year-old Venezuelan, Chacin was 0-3 in five starts to begin the season before being placed on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder inflammation on May 2. The DL trip came a day after Chacin's third loss, in which he was roughed up for 11 hits and seven runs in just 4 2/3 innings of a 7-6 loss to Los Angeles.
