Preview:
Jacob Turner will try to build off his first victory with the Miami Marlins as he toes the rubber on Friday night in the opener of a three-game series against the New York Mets.
Acquired from the Detroit Tigers on July 23 as part of a package for infielder Omar Infante and starter Anibal Sanchez, Turner has gone 1-2 with a 3.75 earned run average in four starts and turned in perhaps his best major league appearance last time out.
The 21-year-old hurled a career-high seven scoreless innings in a victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Friday, scattering two hits and a pair of walks while striking out three.
"I was just being aggressive early, trying to get ahead as much as I could," Turne...

Mets 11-Hit Attack Backed By Strong Niese Effort, Enough To Defeat The Marlins 7-3
Thanks to a solid effort by Jon Niese and a surprising 11-hit outburst, the Mets defeated the Miami Marlins by the score of 7-3 on Friday night at Citi Field.
The win snapped the Mets’ nine game home losing streak, but they set the new franchise record of not scoring more than three runs in 16 straight home games.

Mets Fan Poll: Who should the Mets Trade This Off-season?
The Mets, who are playing like they don't give a **** must find answers and find them quick. The answers unfortunately will not come this season, but Sandy Alderson has to find resourceful ways to make this team better and competitive in 2013.
The trade market has been much talked about with Ike Davis being the main topic of conversation. The Mets are looking to shop any...
Jordany Valdespin called out on strikes on terrible call (visual evidence)
Matt Harvey missed a win last night because umpire Bob Davidson called a pitch by rookie Josh Edgin to veteran Chase Utley that was a fraction of an inch off the plate a ball. It was the correct call but it could have gone either way. The pitch resulted in a walk and the next batter hit the game-winning two-run homer. It was a 3-2 count and if it was called a strike the game would...
Current Mets State Illustrates Why They Didn’t Bring Back Reyes
The Miami Marlins are in for the weekend, and with them comes Jose Reyes. Now that the season is dwindling down to a precious few games, I ask: Would the Mets season been significantly different had they re-signed Reyes?
I don’t see how that is possible after last night.
With the way the Mets are heading, by the time they are competitive again Reyes will be on the downside of...
Josh Edgin Goes Out With A BANG!
Before last night’s game, Terry Collins told reporters that reliever Josh Edgin would make one more relief appearance this season before being shutdown for the season.
With the Mets already being pounded 11-1 by the Phillies, Edgin came on to relieve an ineffective Jeurys Familia in the ninth inning with the bases loaded. He plunks Chase Utley to force home a run, and then BOOM...

Mets 4, Marlins 3
R.A. Dickey earned his 19th victory with a strong performance, Jason Bay and Scott Hairston homered and the New York Mets barely held on in the ninth inning for their second straight home win, 4-3 over the Miami Marlins on Saturday.
Just hours after the Mets snapped a nine-game losing streak at Citi Field on Friday and scored more than three runs in their home ballpark for the first...

Mets vs. Marlins; pitching preview

It has been a second half to forget for the Mets, and although they are out of playoff contention, they can still use the last few games of the season to play young guys, and possibly knock another team out of playoff contention.

Amazin’ Hypotheticals: Who’s Choo?
Continuing the series of Mets hypothetical trades, the Mets largest need is in regards to the outfield, both defensively and offensively. The Mets could look for a team that may be struggling, and looking to rebuild. Oh, hello Cleveland Indians I didn’t see you there.

Mets Digging Deeper Grave, Lose 16-1 to Phillies at Home
I never thought I’d say this, but thank goodness I was at the Yankee game tonight.
I didn’t have to suffer through the nine innings the Mets forced our fan nation to endure this evening. Nevertheless, tonight’s mess must be reviewed.
It as simply a 16-1 butt-whooping of the New York Mets at the hands of the Philadelphia Phillies. The Phillies, battling their way into the playoff...
Phillies 16, Mets 1

They bookended that with a seven-run ninth inning, including a grand slam...
