Trying for their season-high fifth straight win, the Toronto Blue Jays turn their attention to Henderson Alvarez as they aim to finish a three-game sweep of the New York Mets.
Alvarez had a personal three-game winning streak broken on Tuesday when he allowed a season-high 10 hits along with two earned runs in a 4-3 loss to the Rays. This will be his first appearance vs. the Mets.
Right-hander Dillon Gee surrendered seven runs over 5 1/3 innings in an 8-0 loss to Milwaukee Tuesday. He'll try to bounce back this afternoon. Although Gee has never faced the Blue Jays, the Mets can receive some comfort that Gee has sparkled on the road this year, going 2-0 with a 3.66 ERA in three starts.

Ike Davis' Performance in Pittsburgh might determine whether he will be sent down or not
According to Adam Rubin of ESPN NY, Mets Manager Terry Collins no longer is dismissing Ike Davis to the minors as a possibility. Terry Collins also acknowledged First basemen Ike Davis needs to pick up his performance during this road trip or that fate could befall him too.
In recent weeks, the manager steadfastly had said team brass had not even discussed such a possibility...

The Mets organization plans to call up RHP Jeremy Hefner prior to tonight’s ballgame at Toronto reports Adam Rubin of ESPNNewYork.com.
Though no formal announcement has been officially made, Adam Rubin cites Manny Acosta as the most logical candidate to get the boot, whose ERA leaped to 10.53 after yet another unsightly outing from the 31-year old righty.

On The Road With Petey Pete: New Britain, CT & The Binghamton Mets
Let’s see, do I have everything? Lap-top, check. Digital camera, check. Voice recorder check. Sandwiches check. Cell phone, of course, looks like I’m ready to go! New Britain here I come and I will be preceded by the Double-A version of a wrecking crew from Binghamton known as the B-Mets.
I sent word ahead, a little advanced warning so-to-speak, when I reached out to Matt den...
Blue Jays 2, Mets 0
After eight innings of futility, the Mets' best chance to beat Brandon Morrow was cut short by a close call on the bases.
Morrow pitched his second shutout in four starts, blanking the Mets on three hits and leading the Toronto Blue Jays over New York 2-0 on Saturday.
''Morrow was sharp tonight,'' New York's Mike Baxter said. ''He made a lot of good...
Mets beat Blue Jays to avoid sweep
TORONTO - Dillon Gee understands that what happens in baseball cannot always be explained. He merely proved it to himself again on Sunday when he pitched 6 2/3 innings as the New York Mets defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 6-5 before 41,867 at Rogers Centre to avoid a three-game sweep in the interleague series. "This is a crazy game, I was all over the place today," said...

Morrow Mows Down Mets Who Lose 2-0 In Toronto
Sometimes, you just need to tip your cap… Our Mets lost 2-0 across the Northern border to the Jays on Saturday afternoon.
Summary
The last recap I penned had to do with Zack Greinke, and this game brought upon another great pitching talent in Brandon Morrow. Sometimes, there is absolutely nothing you can do. You can not win if you can not score. Simple as that.

With Lawrie's return to Blue Jays, whither Gomes?
Brett Lawrie has served the four-game suspension brought upon by his helmet-tossing after Bill Miller called him out on strikes in the ninth inning of Toronto's 4-3 loss to Tampa Bay on Tuesday. It was just another example of the Blue Jays not getting the bounces. When Lawrie tossed the helmet, it bounced up and hit Miller on the hip. Score it a bad-hop hit. So where does...

Arencibia, Blue Jays hammer Mets
Last week, J.P. Arencibia was lashing out at his manager after being lifted for a pinch-hitter. This week, he's lashing out at opposing pitchers instead.
Arencibia and Rajai Davis each hit two home runs, Yan Gomes hit his first career homer and the Toronto Blue Jays routed the New York Mets 14-5 Friday night.
Arencibia went 3 for 5 with a career-high six RBIs, adding a two...
Morrow filthy as I go home empty handed
When Brandon Morrow was coming up through the Seattle Mariners minor league system, he was touted as a power arm who had the ability to become the ace of a pitching staff. He started out as a relief pitcher for the Mariners, but never seemed to get it together. Seattle impatiently traded him to the Toronto Blue Jays, in return getting their current closer, Brandon League. A...
