Yep, that guy is a professional athlete. It's Jacksonville Suns (Marlins Class AA affiliate) pitcher Graham Taylor executing what is like the absolute worst slide I have ever seen in my 20 years of watching/playing baseball.
The chubby Graham lumbers around third as fast as he can and attempts to slide head first into home plate to beat the throw from centerfield. Instead, he dives shoulder first straight into the plate, coming down hard on his right shoulder and injuring it. Smooth.
Some people might cut him a little slack because he's a pitcher and doesn't run the bases as much as the other guys, but the concept of sliding is so simple and it's one of the first things you're taught as a baseball player. They teach that **** way back in tee ball.
But hey, at least he was safe, right?
