We continue through the diamond looking at the TRI projections and Bill James Handbook projections for the coming season. Bill James certainly isn’t the only person forecasting next season and many don’t think he is the best, but his name is the most recognized in the sabermetric community. In the coming weeks, we will compare his projections with others, but for now we are testing TRI by seeing how well it correlates with his projections.
Plus, it is always good to see TRI numbers next to real fantasy numbers that fantasy players can grab hold of. So, each chart contains what I call the slash line. The slash line has a player’s projected average, home runs, runs, RBIs, and stolen bases. Those numbers don’t figure in either final rankings, but people like to get a firm hold of what a player might do. Bolded players are players that were able to be forecasted by TRI.

I knew that I was onto something with Stanton...
Putting TRI to the Test: First Base
Last time, we took a look at the catchers individually while comparing total run index and Bill James’ offensive projections. This time we will include another one of my famous tables. Pictures paint a thousand words and this is just one of those instances. Players in bold below were able to be projected according to TRI. Those not bolded simply had the TRI scores from last...
