As I'm getting ready to watch Game Four of the White Sox - Rays ALDS, here are some quick thoughts on what transpired on the diamond this past weekend: Chicago Cubs Oh, the great shame. Baseball is a cruel game and a five-game playoff series can shatter the idea of what is a successful season. The Cubs didn't hit, the Cubs struggled defensively and the Cubs starting pitching was less than stellar. Lead-off hitter Alfonso Soriano went 1-for-14 in the NLDS. Soriano has a .213 batting average in the postseason and can anyone forget his 2003 postseason versus the Red Sox and the Marlins. Soriano is developing a Barry Bonds postseason reputation. Cubs fans were gearing up for a World Series win, but there will be no joy in Wrigleyville this year.
