Something to think about briefly: Starter Kyle Davies joined the Royals in 2007, coming over as one of ‘Dayton’s guys’ from the Atlanta Braves. Now 27 years old, Davies has yet to win 10 games in any one year. His ERA has been above 5.00 each of the past two seasons. Davies is carrying an embarassing 7.08 ERA in 2011. He picked up his 5th loss already on Tuesday night in New York. It’s practically inevitable that the Royals will be cutting ties with Davies and that he will not be included in any sort of long-term blueprints. Therefore, it can’t be much longer, can it? It’s looking extremely doubtful that Kyle Davies will make it through the entire season as a Royals starting pitcher. How many more starts will he make before being yanked in favor of an arm such as either Vin Mazzaro (yet to make his Kansas City debut) or one of the top-prospect kids like Mike Montgomery, Danny Duffy and Jake Odorizzi?
