A Rabbit Punch has two meanings, both of which describe the nature of the article. 1. A series of fast punches. 2. An illegal punch to the back of the head between the skull and the first vertebrate that can cause permanent damage to the nerves or death.

Ernie Els shot a final round 68 to be the man who did not lose the Open Championship the most.

Adam Scott inked his name in the record books with one of the biggest and most difficult to watch collapses in PGA history, loosing a 4 stroke lead in the final 4 holes of play. Any golfer who has missed a gimme,  any ball player who has booted a grounder, and any  person who has slipped one past the goalie empathize with the gut wrenching misery Scott must feel. But in the immortal words of Dr. Molly Griswold, “No one’s going to remember the Open 10 years from now, who won…but they’ll remember your 12!”

Penn St. removed the statue of Joe Paterno, while leaving a student library named after him to honor the many years he did not spend aiding and abetting a violent criminal.

The removal of the statues highlights one of the theoretical issues involved in the Penn St. sex abuse scandal. Some people believe a underlying factor for why Jerry Sandusky was allowed to continually victimize children stems from how we over value football as a society. To echo this point, name the last stature removal you remember getting any media attention… you said Saddam Hussein didn’t you? There is a slight chance we over value football.

Penn St. received a $60 million fine, lost post season play for 4 years, vacated all the wins since 1998, and lost 20 scholarships for 4 years. The PSU national also must write, “I will not look away” 500 times on the black board.

For the second time in his career Bobby Bowden became the winningest coach in FBS history.

Miguel Cabrera hit 2 home runs to pass the 300 home run milestone. Cabrera is just the 14 player to reach 300 home runs before turning 30 years old. Cabrera continues a career that might march right into Cooperstown, as long as he keeps his nose clean. And by nose, I mean urine.

The MLB Hall of Fame inducted former Cincinnati Red Barry Larkin this weekend. Larkin’s historic induction marks the closest Pete Rose will ever get to the Hall.

The Minnesota Timberwolves reached an agreement with center Greg Stiemsma.  With Kevin Love, Ricky Rubio, Nikola Pekovic as starters, things are getting a little uncomfortable with the signings of Stiemsma and Chase Budinger. If draft pick Robbie Hummel becomes a factor and any trade talks include Brian Scalabrine or Kyle Korver, I am putting up a red flag, or waving a white one.
