The Dodgers have activated shortstop Hanley Ramirez from the disabled list, making room for him on the roster by placing pitcher Clayton Kershaw on the bereavement list. Ramirez, who was not in the starting lineup Monday night against Colorado, had been out all season since tearing a ligament in his right thumb during the championship game of the World Baseball Classic. He had surgery on March 22. Ramirez could start Tuesday's game, which happens to be Hanley Ramirez bobblehead night at Dodger Stadium. The three-time All-Star played two rehab games for Class-A Rancho Cucamonga last weekend, going 3 for 6 while spending 12 innings at shortstop. He worked out with the big club at Dodger Stadium on Monday afternoon, and Los Angeles decided to activate him.

Dodgers' Hanley Ramirez activated three weeks ahead of schedule

When Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Hanley Ramirez initially sustained his thumb injury during the World Baseball Classic, it appeared he would miss two months of action. However, Ramirez hinted that he would be able to return much sooner than expected early on in his rehab, and he later targeted activation by the end of April. He was able to reach that goal, as the Dodgers activated...

Hanley Ramirez makes first minor league rehab appearance

Often the biggest step toward recovering from an injury is playing in a real game for the first time.  Los Angeles Dodgers' shortstop Hanley Ramirez did just that yesterday.  Ramirez played in his first minor league rehab game since injuring his thumb and ultimately undergoing surgery. Austin Laymance of MLB.com says Ramirez played with a splint on his thumb to avoid further...

It was not immediately known why, but reports stated he would be ready for his Friday start against the Giants in San Francisco. Today we learned that Clayton Kershaw’s father passed away. It was later reported that Ned Colletti, the General...

Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw to start Friday

The Los Angeles Dodgers recently placed left-handed starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw on the bereavement list following the death of his father. While Kershaw has been apart from the club as a result of the loss, LA didn't expect him to miss Friday's regularly scheduled start when they made the transaction. Kershaw indeed will not miss Friday's matchup against the San...

Kershaw, Crawford Get Back to .500: Dodgers 2, Brewers 0

Clayton Kershaw certainly dazzled in the Sunday afternoon sun at Dodger Stadium today, and Carl Crawford wasn’t too bad himself. Between the two stars, the Dodgers forged out a 2-0 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers in today’s rubber match between the two teams. Kershaw showed only a slight sign of having problems, giving up a couple hits in the first, but mostly shut down the...

Recap from the Ravine Game 24 Dodgers 2 – Brewers 0

Clayton Kershaw was back to his dominating self on Sunday. At one point he retired 18 consecutive batters, while striking out 12. It started out a bit rocky for the lefty staff ace, however. After striking out Norichika Aoki to start off the game he gave up back-to-back singles to Jean Segura and Ryan Braun. But, Kershaw didn’t wince and didn’t let it get to him. He induced an...

Lohse hopes to continue success in LA

Kershaw (2-2, 2.14 ERA) is 36-18 with a 2.32...

Game 15 (Brief) Recap: Padres 7, Dodgers 2

Okay, so I’m a bit late to the party here and I’ll keep it brief, not because I enjoy keeping my recaps brief, but because my cold turned into a monster and I’ve barely been able to do anything for myself. Wednesday night, the Dodgers dropped their game to the Padres 7-2.  Clayton Kershaw picked up his 1,000th career strikeout, but gave up 3 home runs, including a shot to...
