Kenny Lofton is a former Major League Baseball outfielder. He played on 11 different teams, including the Cleveland Indians three separate times, from 1991 to 2007. Lofton was a speedy center fielder that excelled in getting hits and stealing bases. via didthetribewinlastnight.com Lofton was a 6-time All-Star and a 4-time Gold Glove Award winner. He also led the league in stolen bases three different seasons and led the league in hits in 1994. He finished his career with 622 stolen bases (15th all-time) with 33 of those coming in the post-season, the all-time record. He ended his career with 2,428 hits and a .299 batting average. Life wasn’t always so great for Lofton. He grew up in the “slums” of East Chicago with his widowed grandmother. Though Lofton then attended the University of Arizona on a basketball scholarship and made the Final Four in 1988. He is one of only two people to ever play in a Final Four game and in a World Series. Lofton didn’t even join the University of Arizona’s baseball team until his junior year. Lofton was a fun player to watch. He was very quick and was an above-average fielder. He is a borderline Hall of Famer and probably won’t ever get in but does deserve some consideration. Plus I always loved playing with him in Backyard Baseball 2001. -Kerr
