I would prefer to forget that four-game set with Baltimore a few years ago right before the All-Star break, but my baseball heart never lets me. I kind of feared history would repeat itself as the Rangers headed east for a series with the Orioles with the mid-summer classic just a week away. Fortunately, Derek Holland and the gang made sure this one wouldn’t be four losses.
Holland’s maturity as a pitcher has been on display a lot this season. That’s probably why he’s done so well. Truly, though, tonight, he had a few innings that were a little rough. In the past, Holland would have had a meltdown and let the other team score like crazy. Tonight? Not so much. He got by some hiccups in the 1st inning. In the 4th, he walked the lead-off batter and loaded the bases with no outs. Somehow, he escaped with just three runs scoring that inning.
That was the last time Baltimore would have the lead though. Trailing 3-2 in the 6th, the Rangers bats came alive and took advantage of so...

Elvis Andrus just loves to mess with Adrian Beltre. The Texas Rangers shortstop’s ongoing antics with his teammate continued on Monday when he decided to interfere with Beltre on a popup yet again. I would tell you that Baltimore Orioles third baseman Manny Machado’s amazing throw to first base to throw out Luis Cruz reminded me of Brooks Robinson, but I would be lying, since I never saw Brooks Robinson play. That’s what all the old guys on Twitter were saying. Nevertheless, it is a spectactular play: Yes, had Machado fielded it cleanly it would have been a normal groundout...
Seriously, sometimes I can’t believe I get to watch that guy play for my team every night. He’s so good at baseball. I wish I was as good at anything as he is at baseball. Oh, and he’s not an All-Star this year. Which is ridiculous. But we all know the All-Star voting is pretty terrible anyway.
Back to tonight’s game, Beltre was an All-Star on the...

As a Boston Red Sox fan I have to say Manny Ramirez had some very clutch moments in his time in Boston. 2004 was a special year for Red Sox fans and Manny was very instrumental that year to help Boston reverse the curse.
When talk of steroids and PED’s circled around his name the Red Sox front office was looking to part ways with Manny. Ramirez moved to Los Angeles to play with...
