In another sign that outfielder Josh Hamilton isn’t likely to
return, the Texas Rangers are reportedly focusing on free agent right-hander
Zack Greinke, reports Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com.
The Rangers have joined the
fray for Zack Greinke in another sign that superstar outfielder Josh Hamilton’s days in Texas are
numbered.
While the Los Angeles Angels are viewed as the favorite to
sign Greinke this winter, according to Heyman, the Rangers and Los Angeles
Dodgers figure to offer the Halos competition for the highly coveted
right-hander. Heyman adds that the Washington Nationals could also get in on
the Greinke sweepstakes.
The Rangers do have interest in retaining Hamilton, but at
this point they are concentrating their efforts on Greinke while letting the
free agent outfielder to look elsewhere. Heyman notes that for Hamilton to
re-sign with the Rangers two things might have to happen; the team misses out
on Greinke and the slugger doesn’t f...

Yankees’ Cashman talking to Zack Greinke’s agent
After getting traded from the Milwaukee Brewers to the Los Angeles Angels last season, Zack Greinke posted a 6-2 record with a 3.53 era. Solid number for a backend rotation starter, however, he struggled at times with his command and had trouble keeping the ball low in the strike zone, which led him to give up 11 home runs in less than half a season.

Rangers, Hamilton to part ways?
The Rangers appear unwilling to offer Josh Hamilton more than a three-year deal, which likely means the team is willing to allow the slugger leave in free agency.
What should teams pay Zack Greinke?
The equation between what teams should pay a free agent and what they end up paying him do not always match up. The free agent history of the past thirty years is littered with bad contracts. So, if you are a general manager and the prize free agent on the market is Zack Greinke, what should you pay him? Is he closer to Sabathia-type money at $23 million per year or he is closer...
Zack Greinke Is Just What the Orioles Need
The Baltimore Orioles had by far surprising run in 2012. Not one ESPN or MLB Network reporter predicted them to make as strong of a run as they did. After finishing the 2011 campaign 69-93, they turned it around with an impressive 93-69 record.
They won an amazing 16 extra inning games in a row, an MLB record. The Orioles were definitely strong contenders this year, but lacked...
Report: Rangers won't overpay for Hamilton
If All-Star outfielder Josh Hamilton was waiting for the Texas Rangers to set a market for the free agent slugger, it might be time to turn to Plan B. The Rangers aren't likely to meet the reported asking price of six or seven years at $20 million to $25 million per season. Hamilton, 31, is considered a prime free agent but his age and history of injuries, overcame chemical...

Baseball’s biggest spenders may be relatively quiet this winter, at least when it comes to big-name, big-money free agents.
The New York Post reports that the Yankees aren’t likely to be in on Josh Hamilton or Zack Greinke, the two biggest names in free agency this offseason. If New York does splurge on a big contract, the Post reports, it will be on a contract extension for...

INDIAN WELLS, Calif.-- My message to the Texas Rangers when they lose Josh Hamilton will be the same as it was to the St. Louis Cardinals when they lost Albert Pujols.
Happy Independence Day.
Nothing against Hamilton and Pujols both are incredible talents. But just as the Cardinals were better off avoiding a mega-deal for Pujols, the Rangers will be better off avoiding one for...
