The Diamondbacks have added yet another utility player. Cody Ransom was signed on Thursday by the club to try and compete for a roster spot in spring training. The terms of Ransom’s have yet to been disclosed. A native of Mesa, Ransom is the second utility player that Arizona has signed in the past week. Willie Bloomquist was signed just a few days prior. The 34-year-old has spent eight seasons in the big leagues playing in San Francisco, Houston, New York and Philadelphia last season. He has spent the majority of his time at shortstop, but he has also seen time first, second, third and even in the outfield. Ransom will be competing against Bloomquist, Tony Abreu and Ryan Roberts for a reserve in the infield.
