The Tampa Bay Rays acquired reliever Burke Badenhop from the Miami Marlins on Monday in exchange for minor league catcher Jake Jefferies.
Right-hander Burke Badenhop has been traded by the Miami Marlins to the Tampa Bay Rays for minor league catcher Jake Jefferies. Badenhop pitched the past four seasons for the Marlins. He went 2-3 with a 4.10 ERA in 50 games this year. Jefferies, a third-round pick in the 2008 draft, spent most of the year with Class-A Charlotte, where he batted .235 with two homers in 59 games.
MIAMI — Burke Badenhop, the final piece of the Miguel Cabrera-Dontrelle Willis trade, has been dealt to the Rays for Minor League catcher Jake Jefferies.
The 28-year-old was used mostly in long relief in his Marlins’ career, which began in 2008.
