Free-agent catcher Jose Molina is apparently close to re-signing with the Tampa Bay Rays, according to Buster Olney.  The ESPN writer also mentioned the possible parameters of the deal. Could be a two-year deal. — Buster Olney (@Buster_ESPN) November 21, 2013 Molina, 38, played in 99 games last season, hitting .233 with two home runs.  Although the right-handed hitter may not bring much with the bat, or with his legs, his defense behind the plate is still strong.  He is also considered to be one of the best pitch-framers in all of baseball.  Rays’ manager Joe Maddon loves Molina’s glove and his ability to save runs by blocking pitches and getting extra strike calls through framing.
