The Tampa Bay Rays staved off elimination on Monday night with a dramatic walk-off home run by catcher Jose Lobaton.
Lobaton had seven home runs during the regular season but none of them measure up to his blast off of Red Sox reliever Koji Uehara which landed in the Rays tank in center field.

For the Tampa Bay Rays, NLDS Game 3 started with a dramatic game-tying 3-run home run by 3-time All-Star 3B Evan Longoria, and ended with a dramatic walk-off home run by relatively obscure backup catcher Jose Lobaton to get the Rays first win in the series and stave off elimination. Lobaton was inserted as part of a double switch in the pitchers spot, because the Tampa Bay Rays...
Monday night’s game against the Boston Red Sox was not won with ease, but after a 5-4 victory, the Tampa Bay Rays have forced a Game 4. The Rays did not play perfect baseball last night, but they got the breaks that they needed, especially when they needed it most. The reality of Jose Lobaton‘s walk-off home run is that we don’t know what it’s going to mean yet. This is going to depend in large part on series context, on how the rest of the series goes, and if the Rays still lose to the Red Sox, Lobaton won’t be remembered forever. He’ll forever be a part of Rays history, but the next couple games will determine whether or not he...

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The after-party in the Tampa Bay Rays' clubhouse was predictably wild and free, both traits that fit these survivors well.
There were yells and drums banged and other familiar noises when catcher Jose Lobaton walked through a corridor with a wide grin and his blue hat turned backward, the man of the moment pausing to blow a kiss to a fan nearby.
The Rays lived to fight another day on Monday night, beating the Red Sox with some late-inning dramatics.
The Red Sox jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, striking first with one run to start off the game, and adding two more in the fifth inning. But with one swing of the bat, Evan Longoria erased the deficit, and knotted the score up at 3-3 with a towering home run in the bottom of...

Just when it seemed like this series was over, the unlikeliest of players took center stage and swung the momentum of this American League Divisional Series drastically.
