Brandon Morrow tossed his second shutout of the season as the Toronto Blue Jays took a 2-0 win over the New York Mets in the second of three games in an inter-league set.
Morrow (5-2) gave up just one walk and three hits while striking out eight for the Blue Jays, who have won four straight. Kelly Johnson and Yunel Escobar each had two hits and an RBI in the win.
"That was a great game that he threw out there today," said Toronto manager John Farrell. "We got a couple of timely hits there, but the real story today was Brandon, he was fantastic out there."
Lucas Duda's double was the only extra-base hit for the Mets, who have dropped four of five.
Miguel Batista started on the mound, but left after two innings with stiffness in his lower back. Jeremy Hefner ...

When Brandon Morrow was coming up through the Seattle Mariners minor league system, he was touted as a power arm who had the ability to become the ace of a pitching staff. He started out as a relief pitcher for the Mariners, but never seemed to get it together. Seattle impatiently traded him to the Toronto Blue Jays, in return getting their current closer, Brandon League. A...
Sometimes, you just need to tip your cap… Our Mets lost 2-0 across the Northern border to the Jays on Saturday afternoon.
The last recap I penned had to do with Zack Greinke, and this game brought upon another great pitching talent in Brandon Morrow. Sometimes, there is absolutely nothing you can do. You can not win if you can not score. Simple as that.
Brandon Morrow dominated...
I must admit, after the Jays swept the New York Yankees in their last series, I wasn’t expecting too much this weekend when they faced the New York Mets.
Well, they surprised me again by winning the first two games and came very close to another sweep on Sunday. Not to mention that outstanding pitching performance by Brandon Morrow on Saturday afternoon.
Friday night’s game...
After eight innings of futility, the Mets' best chance to beat Brandon Morrow was cut short by a close call on the bases.
Morrow pitched his second shutout in four starts, blanking the Mets on three hits and leading the Toronto Blue Jays over New York 2-0 on Saturday.
''Morrow was sharp tonight,'' New York's Mike Baxter said. ''He made a lot of good...
TORONTO -- As good as Brandon Morrow was on Saturday in pitching a three-hit shutout as the Toronto Blue Jays beat the New York Mets 2-0, he still needed a couple of defensive gems from right-fielder Jose Bautista. Bautista made a fine catch going out toward the wall in right field on a sixth-inning line drive by Andres Torres. And then in the ninth threw out Mike Baxter trying...
Batista pitched 2 scoreless innings before leaving the game
Miguel Batusta started the game but left after two quick innings. Jeremy Hefner camewin and pitched decently, but he did allow two runs.
The real issue with today’s game was the Mets could not get anything going against Jays starter Brandon Morrow. Morrow was excellent today, but the Mets lineup was hurting with David...

I'm often misunderstood. Which is why when I complain about a ********* call by Brian Knight and call for more instant replay, you might think I'm only doing that because my favorite team was affected, and because I think the Mets 2-0 loss to the Blue Jays on Saturday would have been totally different had Knight made the correct call. On the contrary, my dear readers. Brandon...
Yesterday afternoon the Mets were shutout by the Blue Jays 2-0. Brandon Morrow threw a complete game 3 hitter. The closest the Mets came to scoring was in the 9th inning when with 1 out and a man on 1st, Mike from Whitestone lined one down the right field line and was thrown out at 2nd by Jose Bautista. The replay showed that Baxter was safe. Today, Dillon Gee (sans goatee...
Friday night, Justin Verlander threw no-hit baseball for 8.1 innings and simply overmatched the Pittsburgh Pirates in his 1-hit shutout. Yesterday, Brandon Morrow needed 107 pitches to dominate the Mets, allowing only 3 hits and one walk while striking out 8 in his shutout performance. These performances were great and some pitchers have been simply dominant all season. For a...
